The Consumer Electronics Show 2010 (CES) has been dominated by the environment, as more and more companies have introduced state of the art eco-friendly products, that have been designed to provide the high performance but with minimal power consumption. One such company is the Freelux North America, that has unveiled it latest product, EcoTouch Dimmer, that essentially dims the light of any CFL bulb attached to it, thus providing ambient illumination with less power consumption, thus saving valuable energy.
The EcoTouch Dimmer can support just about every CFL bulb available in the market as long as the bulb’s voltage consumption is restricted to 20 watts. The device works by analyzing and then responding to a user’s finger touch. The longer one keeps his finger on the pad, the dimmer the light gets and a short touch on the finger pad will switch off the bulb entirely.

Another essential device that has been introduced by Freelux is the Standby Indicator that gives the users an indication of vampire power is being used by their appliances. Vampire power is the amount of energy that is consumed by an electronic appliance when it is switched off, but is still plugged in an active power point. Although, this device is nothing new in the market, yet its importance cannot be undermined, as most of us simply forget to turn off the power of our appliances, especially the televisions and the mobile phone charges, when we are done.
