There are times when you have a great TV and it would be just too stupid to go too close to it. Not that it would matter, but you are NOT supposed to watch TV from real close. With that being the case, Sony has unveiled a cool new TV that warns you if you go too close to it.

Thanks to their Distance Alert System, the TV will switch off if you are just about a meter away from the TV. The TV can also recognize human presence thanks to the camera and if nobody is there in the room, it goes to backlight mode.

If the human presence is not felt for more than 30 minutes, the TV shall promptly switch off. The model apparently is going to be expensive according to a Sony representative and it shall be launched sometime soon. There is no word on the price or availability but it sure is a neat gadget. It would be quite cool to have a TV like this!
