A study organized by the antivirus software company Symantec, between February and December 2009 showed that children under the age of seven are now seeking in the Internet pages of sexual content.
The survey, entitled Kids’ Top 100 Searches of 2009, there 14.6 million search queries on computers protected with Norton control system for parents, group the results by gender and age (up to 7 years, 8 to 12 years and 13 to 18 years).
Overall, the first 3 positions are occupied by “Youtube“, “Google” and “Facebook“, but then appear searches for “sex” and “porn”.
The term “porn” also stands fourth among the most searched for terms by children under 7 years. Since the words “sex” and “porn” appears quite often in search of children under 8 years. These words were above other terms related to this age group, as “Club Penguin” and “Webkinz”, worries Pete Cashmore on Mashable site.
The research, however, does not guarantee that the terms have been searched only for children, it is possible that other people have made use of protected computers, recalls the site of the French magazine Le Nouvel Observateur. Anyway, this does not seem to be a good thing for the parents because this research might be an indication that parents aren not supervising their kids as they should be.
