The global beverage giant, Coca Cola has taken an initiative to go ‘water neutral’ by 2012 in India. As a socially responsible organization, Coca Cola has targeted to replenish the water used by the company by adopting this concept.

Water neutral is an initiative adopted to balance the usage of water by reducing the water footprint as much as possible by individuals, organization and corporations. Water neutral is an awareness and a water conservation campaign.

The initial step of water neutrality will be put to effect by the end of the current year. Ground water usage ratio had shown an improvement of 42 percent over the last decade. With the replenishment level of 82 percent of ground water usage in India, the beverage company still aims for improvement. The company plans to commission a study for water shed projects in India, and start in all the 56 plants over the next five years. Coca Cola has indeed taken a commendable step to contribute to the global water challenge that humanity faces all over the world.
