
Is this is end of brand rivalry between Coke and Pepsi? Or they are just following each other on Twitter and using social-media to build their own brand images? The truth is both Pepsi and Coke are sending RTs (Re-Tweets) and it has been recorded on the blog of Amnesia Razorfish, the digital agency which began the whole tweeting game between the two giants by asking them to be Tweeter friends.

It doesn’t really come as a surprise that both Pepsi and Coke have bit the Twitter bait. No point in undermining the power of social-media. The traditional advertising and counter advertising did work for the two soft-drink giants. So they have been using each other’s popularity to their advantage. This new age Tweets and Re-Tweets will make their presence felt in the cyberspace too.

And it is good news indeed for Twitter too. Right from political breaking news to micro-sites world is happily tweeting away. Now even brands will jump on the bandwagon. The new age marketing and advertising has arrived. Of course social networking will not stop brands from competing. But they’ll now change their language and formats. I am sure these Tweets and Re-Tweets will become more interesting and the two brands will make sure they have thousands of followers!!
