The British band Coldplay is at the top of the sales of virtual iTunes store this year. The album “Viva la Vida”, launched in June, was the most sold in the United States, while “Bleeding Love” by Leona Lewis, was the best-selling single.
Since the launch in June, more than 2 million copies of the new CD Coldpaly were sold in U.S. stores.
Already the digital copies on download mp3, have been purchased by more of 500 thousand Internet users, most of them from iTunes, informed a representative of the band.
Though not confirm the exact number of sales, iTunes released the list of best-selling artists in 2008. Behind “Viva la Vida” is the album “Sleep Through the Static” by Jack Johnson, followed by the soundtrack of the film “Juno” in third place.
“Tha Carter III,” the rapper Lil Wayne, is in fourth place and the album “Little Voice”, the singer Sara Bareilles, complete the top 5.
Two other soundtracks are among the ten best-selling albums – “Just Once” ( “Eleven”) and “Across the Universe”, this one with new versions of the Beatles songs. Complete the list “We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things” by Jason Mraz, “Dreaming Out Loud,” the group OneRepublic, and “Spirit” by Leona Lewis.
The single “Bleeding Love” by Lewis, sold 3.2 million digital copies, as reported to the J Records label.
