Condom Vending Machine Says ‘Aadaab’ Lucknow

Condom vending machines are big news in a country like India, that too when they get installed in the ultra-conservative regions like in the Uttar Pradesh Capital of Lucknow. After all, don’t we know about the flak the condom vending machine at JNU campus, New Delhi recieve when it first came in!

Indeed a progressive move on the part of the UP State AIDS Control Society, which has decided to install some 250 condom vending machines in Lucknow to promote safe sex awareness. They see it as a good move because folks in India are still embarrassed to ask for condoms at medical stores. And many times, they even risk not asking. That is where the condom vending machine steps in, promising safe sex and zero-embarrassment.

And these machines will not just be installed at hospitals alone. Lucknow-ites will find them at popular hang-outs like malls, cinema halls and market places. In fact, the same drive will also reach out to sister city of Kanpur with the installation of 350 condom machines.

Now, let’s see how positively the ‘aam aadmi’ responds or will the self-proclaimed preservers of morality strike here too?

  1. If the moral police feels wearing a condom is against their books, they must take full responsibility for AIDS deaths.
