Sometimes it’s quite a task to handle kids at home or even your domestic helper. To top it all, it’s not always possible to keep a close eye on them constantly. It becomes all the more a virtually impossible task if you are a working person who needs to go to office everyday. In such a scenario, the best thing to do micro management on them is to get you a lock either from Kwikset or Schlage.

The two companies offer you their sophisticated locks that act like a spy for you. The locks are designed with special features and the best among them is that they send an e-mail to your cell phone when somebody unlocks your door. This will be very helpful to catch a thief or an intruder. The locks provide you a code and when you enter it, you can program a lot of activities.

For instance, you can know when lights are switched on or off, music or TV are switched on or off, window shades are lowered or raised, thermostat brought to room temperature, etc. How cool is that now? However, there are slight differences between the two locks. Kwikset is partnered with Control4 and comes with an A/V control. It has three metallic finishes, which are priced between $100 and $110. It can also store up to 30 programmable codes and, is equipped with motorized bolts for remote control. You do not have to get out of the bed to lock the doors. It’s just a button away to do the task.

However, to get e-mail notification and to get all the other automation, you must have a Control4 system installed.Whereas, Schlage lock does not have an A/V control. It can handle up to just about 19 different codes. It comes in either lever or deadbolt with non-motorized versions. It is available at $200. Besides, should you require enabling the e-mail notification feature, you have to pay an additional $13 per month. Everything comes with a catch!
