Google’s mobile operating platform, Google Android has fast achieved the status of one of most wanted systems by both users and the handset manufacturers as well. However, many now speculate that, the latest Android version, Google Android 2.0, which is much more advanced and feature packed than its predecessor might not be available for the first generation smart phones.

One of the primary for this speculations is the lack and often unavailability of drivers for the hardware from the smart phone processor chips provider, Qualcomm. Also, the hardware support for the Android 2.0 kernel is currently difficult to be found. Secondly, as the Google Android 2.0 is quite ahead of its time, thus it requires a good amount of space in the device, a crucial factor that the first generation phones seriously lack.

A major hurdle that stands in the way the first generation smart phones looking to grab the Android 2.0 is their release dates, that have almost all been slated for the year 2010. The problem being that, how would the manufactures be able to implement the Google Android 2.0 at a time when their device are just about to hit the markets, and all advertising an publicity has been taken care of? Even though the Android 2.0 has the entire mobile phone market abuzz with excitement, only a handful of handset manufacturers have dared commit on the the availability of the mobile OS on their systems. These companies are HTC and Samsung, but the carriers so far have stayed away from advanced advertising as the availability of the Google Android 2.0 enabled handsets is still uncertain.
