The world of prefabricated furniture introduced s to the concept of cardboard furniture. So far, we had viewed cardboard furniture as something to be used in the case of economic crisis and other such emergencies. Never had anyone thought of building their whole office space from cardboard just because it was creative.

Amsterdam based creative agency Nothing takes much pride in its name; it aims to create beautiful somethings out of nothing. Starting the trend of creative nothingness, designers Michael Jansen and Bas Korsten decided that the trend must begin at home, or rather their office. The Nothing office is almost completely built out of cardboard.

Designed by Joost van Bleiswijk and Alrik Koudenburg, the Nothing office has walls, beams and ceiling made of cardboard and all the furniture (shelves, tables, chairs, etc) are all made from cardboard. Even the stairs in this office are made from ‘nothing’!

Taking the creative idea further, the brown blandness of the cardboard is prettified by every visitor to the Nothing office. The walls and all other cardboard surfaces of the office will double up as the guestbook and everyone are encouraged to leave their artwork here. The lucky first person to do so was illustrator Fiodor Sumkin.

Nothing intends to replace the cardboard surfaces when they get board of the artwork or perhaps when they need a blank page for other guests to leave their signature upon. Talk about making news out of Nothing!
