The croissant will no more be a food item on your plate. In fact, Australian designer Kenneth Cobonpue is all set to bring it to your living room in the form of a very innovative furniture. Made from rattan, this contemporary croissant-shaped lounger is actually drawn from Kenneth’s mother’s Philipino furniture manufacturing store from the 70s.
The croissant outdoor sofa will burn a hole in your pocket with a huge price tag of $AU 8,800. You can get a matching outdoor arm chair too for $AU3,100. Kenneth claims that his furniture is not just about the aesthetics alone but is characterized by their unique texture, color, smell and sound. That is due to the use of materials like rattan, buri, kawayan and abaca for his furniture units.
The croissant range consists of a sofa, lounge armchair, occasional table and end table and also available in polyethylene and steel. By the way, Kenneth has made a name for himself in the lighting industry. His famous ‘Biba Suspension Lamp’ is a rage across the world. It has been made from hand dyed rattan vines and tied to a metal frame.
