
While Google has been the most widely used search engine in the world, it has also begun to be viewed in a negative light thanks to the domination and authoritarian control it has come to exert on the World Wide Web. A single company controlling about 75% of web traffic and searches is something that is not only intimidating but also unhealthy.
Thus people have begun to look for other options and the two major search engines that come to mind are msn and yahoo. While yahoo is quite a sane bet, msn is again run by Bill Gate’s Microsoft, which is not a great idea again. Thus, many new search engines have sprung up in recent years and one such is the Cuil. Cuil (pronounced as ‘cool’) is a stylish and glamorous looking search engine which claims to have the world’s largest database of web pages.

Many keywords did not fetch the results that I wanted but there are options for webmasters to add their sites so that their crawlers visit the site. It comes with many interesting features such as Drilldown, Roll-over definitions, tabs and navigation suggestion. It also protects your identity and collects no information about you, unlike Google.
