The cry of “Death to the Bourbons,” the royal family of Spain, launched on Saturday by a Spanish political tensions agitated and provoked nationalist demands that he resign.

Member of the Lower House, Joan Tarda gave the cry as members of the party Republican Left of Catalonia (ERC), which argues that independence for the region, burned a coffin symbolizing the Spanish Constitution to mark the 30th anniversary of the Charter, on Saturday.

As a symbol of Spain’s constitutional monarchy, the royal family is a target for radicals seeking the independence or more autonomy to regions like Catalonia and the Basque Country.

In a statement here Sunday, Tarda said that did not stimulate anyone to kill members of the royal family. He said he wanted to criticize the monarchy as an institution.
