Believe it or not but an independent municipality in Copenhagen, Denmark, called the municipality of Rødovre is planning on constructing a Sky Village. Apparently, looking for the right design through a competition, Rødovre announced MVRDV and ADEPT as the winner of the Rødovre Skyscraper. Standing 116 meter tall, this wonder building will contain apartments, a hotel, retail and offices plus a public park as well as a plaza.
The skyscraper concept incorporates qualities Copenhagen is known for like the historical spire, the present day high-rise blending in the city skyline and most significantly, the single family home and the skyscraper in a vertical village.
Due to the unstability in the markets, the winning design has been conceptualised on a flexible grid which allows alterations at every level. This perhaps, is the the srongest feature of this contemprary kingdom of a building. The Sky Village will also make use of te progressive Danish environmental standards. Plans are on to include a greywater circuit, the use of 40% recycled concrete in the foundation and a many other energy producing devices.
