After years long legal trouble Italian designer Roberto Cavalli, one of the top shot fashion juggernaut in the industry was relieved of tax evasion charges. The Italian Supreme Court of Cassation freed the man finally after the fierce tussle and skeptical scrutiny.
The verdict that was issued against Cavalli by the Appeal Court of Florence was declared null and void. Initially the designer was sentenced to 12 months of jail; though owing to some technicality in the legal department he was off the hook. The designer was accused of tax evasion charges in 2002, when the authority found out that he had not been paying the estimated tax amount that was due, courtesy his lavish furnishing of his home that cost 1.8 million pounds. However the charges by the lower court have been completely overthrown by the Supreme Court and finally the man comes victorious after a lengthy and ugly legal war.
The designer had been quoted saying during an interview, “I’m very pleased.” . “As anyone who has lived in Italy long enough knows, it sadly happens often that people in the limelight are attacked for personal reasons and falsely accused and things are only checked at a later date.” All well that ends well!
