For all those who frequently visit Google site may be totally disappointed to know that Google News crashed on this Thursday between 8:40 and 9:55 ET. This created a lot of inconvenience to those who depend on the site to search for the top stories everyday. They had to visit other sites for the same. However, there is no apparent reason given very precisely as to what had gone wrong.

According to Rich Miller, Data Centre Knowledge writer, the outrage occurred as Google tried to upload YouTube video links to news items. The Northeastern United states were the worst affected. ComperWorld writer Steven Vaughn-Nichols reports that in some parts of Australia and Europe also, slow performance from Google sites was experienced. Steven also thinks this could be a massive hack job. It’s too early to make any assumptions though.

Apparently, the inconvenience did not stop with Google News. Google Calendar and Gmail too were affected. Some reports also suggest that Google’s main page was also disrupted in some areas. However, Google has acknowledged problems with Calendar and Gmail on its Apps Dashboard page.
