Ethics Of Having Eight !

nadya1 300x200 Ethics Of Having Eight !Worn out by the news of bankruptcy and bail-outs, people the world over especially in America embraced this miracle with joy and wonder. Eight babies born to Nadya Suleman (a single mother) and each of them delivered alive. But as more details emerge about Suleman’s background and eccentricity, public outrage and debate on various issues related to this has only escalated.

Firstly, it became clear that this woman was not an infertile women who sought medical help. She already had six children. She has very little employment history and was living on her parents’ support, with the family resources clearly depleting with the mammoth task of raising 6 kids in addition to the eight kids that can now field a football team with three substitutes! As her own mother, Angela Suleman, told one Associated Press reporter: “[She] is not evil, but she is obsessed with children…”

Even the medical fraternity is unable to understand how a healthy mother-of-six could have been allowed to have fertility treatment that resulted in octuplets without serious questions arising about the mother’s mental health, her capacity to raise such a large family or the huge medical dangers involved in giving birth to so many babies at once.

With more and more women approaching fertility clinics, this could set one dangerous example of women taking chances in attempting to birth extreme multiples.
