Many women fear exercising during pregnancy. However, researches show that light exercise could prove to be beneficial to the beneficial to the fetus. Walking, swimming and yoga are the best form to exercises.

Exercise during pregnancy helps the pregnant woman to avid gestational diabetes. The musculoskeletal fitness is maintained and it allows the women to bear the labor pains and also helps in quick recovery. The fetus benefits too, as studies suggest that exercise helps in lowering the fetal heart beats. However, consultation from the doctor is advised before carrying out the 30 minute exercise schedule. Also activities like scuba diving, horse riding, skiing, or any other activity that strains the lower abdomen should be avoided.

Medical experts suggest that a pregnant woman can also participate in aerobics, jogging and running if she was used to these types of exercise before her pregnancy and exercised regularly. The pregnant women must keep in mind that she should avoid exercising till she is breathless or to a point of exhaustion as it may cut the supply of oxygen to the fetus. Exercise should be avoided in the hot weather as over heating up affects fetus growth. In the second and the third trimester, exercises that involves lying flat in the back must be avoid as it may decrease blood supply to the womb.
