People’s thirst to see and try out new features in one of the biggest social networks available on the Internet, Facebook has been in one word, insatiable. Now, in what seems to be as one of the biggest moves from Facebook, the company is all set to roll out 6.5 million community pages, that would enable the users to formulate a direct link between their profiles and these pages. Furthermore, with the help of the new community pages, Facebook would now be able to gain higher search engine results for Community Pages.
With the community pages, users are no longer needed to become a fan of a certain page. Instead, they can simply click the ‘Like’ button and can even go deeper to other verticals such as topics etc. A most noticeable factor of the community pages is that, they do not post any updates on the user’s profile page and hence do not become a hindrance to the user experience. Also, the community pages are known to import streams of related, public content from user status messages. These community pages were introduced on April 1st without any fanfare, but now Facebook has begun designating some of the existing pages as ‘new pages’ and is also in the process of introducing about 6.5 million new community pages.
With the new feature in effect, the users will be provided with an option to link their profile pages with relevant community pages selected by Facebook. Some of the factors that decide the depiction of a certain community page on a user’s profile include, current location, education, interests etc.
