Social networking sites are indeed fighting a tough competition every time with ever increasing features that they keep launching. This time around, it’s Facebook, which has done it again with their special feature that allows users to tag friends in status updates and other messages from the publisher. This is something similar to what Twitter offers. It works very much the same.

All you have to do is write your update status in the publisher and click on the “@” operator. Unlike Twitter where you need to remember the friend’s name while tagging, Facebook offers a dropdown menu that allows you to select your friend, page, group or event that you want to tag. A notification is sent to your friends when you tag them. It also gives the users an option to remove tags published in others’ posts.

Andrew Huang, the product manager of Facebook believes that this facility will make the site more engaging. Indeed, it definitely will as this is so cool. I am already very excited about this new feature. Facebook, which is growing its social network faster rate than Twitter will soon be at the top of all the social networking sites. No doubt, Facebook rules, what say folks?
