The social networks sites Facebook and MySpace practically inverted positions between September of 2009 and the same month of 2008, according to a data on the USA service HitWise, from the Experian company.
The participation of Facebook in relation to visitors in social networks arose from 19,4% to 58,59%, while MySpace fell from 66,84% to 30,26%. Even Orkut, which is the social network leader in countries like Brazil and India is feeling the “threat” that Facebook represents and is preparing an “upgrade”.
Something seemingly contradictory it happens with Twitter: in spite of all attention that the microblog generates with celebrities users using the service, its visitation porcentual in the section of social networks is very small with only 2% of this segment. Even so, the growth bigger than 1000%. It arose from 0,15% to 1,84% of the market of the social networks.
Besides, HitWise recognizes that their measurements don’t count the traffic research cell phones and applications for Twitter, what “probably counts as most of the activity in the site”, says the site Measured Post.
Even the site Tagged, that was already pointed as virtual plague increase its participation, getting a bigger slice than Twitter and it is in third place: it arose from 1,62% to 2,38%.
