Facebook is getting high on a launching spree today. Soon after launching Facebook Lite, open-sourcing and @ tagging within hours, the site has come up with another launch called “Fax This Photo”, which is powered by efax.com. This will allow its users to fax a photo directly from their Facebook account. Now the question is why would the Facebook users actually need to fax photos through their Facebook account when they can instead e-mail them easily?

Considering that Facebook charges its user $1.5 for faxing each photo, the idea is not all that great. This will work best only for those folks who are computer illiterate but again, how many people actually keep a fax machine at home? The idea seems to be defeated in many ways than not. Besides, the print quality in fax machines is often very poor.

Moreover, our friends can always view our pictures through our Facebook profiles or other social networking profiles. When most people these days upload umpteen pictures on their social networking sites, which can be viewed by their contacts, why would one actually take the trouble of faxing or mailing their pictures? Come on Facebook, you can launch something more exciting than this!
