facebook Facebook Selling Your Data?

The worst fear of Facebook users have been their personal data being sold to marketing agencies from where it can get into unscrupulous hands. Facebook apparently has decided generate revenue by using user’s personal information. This information would be used real time to assist engagement ads. Engagement Ads would appear in a users profile and the user could take a market survey right there and then.

However, Facebook was quick to state that Engagement Ads have been present on facebook for a while and they were nothing new. Why the question of Facebook profile information being used came into picture suddenly has been a question that has no answers readily available. Recession may have forced ad agencies and marketing companies to try everything in the book to get to a dismal market.

Facebook on the other hand must be doing quite well, considering its popularity amongst us all. However, this popularity may take a beating if Facebook decides to use profile information in a way that users wouldn’t like to be used.
