Facebook Spams

The popular social networking site, Facebook has again borne the brunt of a new phishing scam that has crash many computers and mobile phones. This new malware is said to steal passwords and email ids. If you are an active Facebook user, then avoid the files that end with “at” and be”. Some mails with subjects like “Look at this” are scams. The common links with malware have names like goldbase.be, picoband.be, silvertag.be etc.

These websites if visited by the user can download malware in your computer. The URL also connects the user to a fake Facebook page and demands the user id and password from where it is secretly stolen. In such cases, passwords to your accounts should be changed immediately. However, the spokesperson of the social networking site has said the attack of this scam is much smaller in comparison to the previous attack. Facebook monitoring systems are updated regularly to detect any such attacks. Hence, it has been suggested that those who has been the victim of this malicious phishing scam, needs to reset their passwords so that the confidentiality is not compromised.
