Facebook Updates User Privacy Settings For All Users

The biggest and the most popular social networking website, Facebook has announced that from Wednesday, it will be updating the user privacy settings, to ensure that the users have complete rights over their accounts and they can set the visibility of their profile as per their liking. Facebook will prompt all of its more than 350 million users to review and update their privacy settings.

So far, the privacy settings provided by Facebook have helped less and confused the user more with complexity and lack of options. However, Facebook is banking upon the new layout of the settings to help make the biggest social network a more secure environment and with adequate security measures in place, the users might be then willing to share even more information than before.

The new privacy settings will canvas all the metrics of a user’s profile such as photos, videos, updates, posts etc. essentially all the content that the users share on the website. The new settings will give the users the option to share their profile details with either “friends only“, “friends of friends” or “everyone”. However, the “everyone” setting option has been disabled for children and users below the age of 18. As per estimates released by Facebook, since the inception of the privacy settings, only 15% to 20% of all 350 million plus have ever taken the privacy settings seriously.
