Facebook announced on Tuesday that over 100 000 sites have already deployed its new plugins for the social network, launched last month.
Plugins added to sites allow Facebook users to share, through a button Like, materials, pictures and videos on your page without the need to login. The tool also displays how many friends shared the same material and who they are.
According to the Mashable in its first week more than 50 000 sites for publications such as newspapers and magazines were interested in the new tool and are now reaping the first fruits.
According to the announcement on Facebook’s official blog, the number of visitors sent to the social networking site of The Washington Post has increased 290%. But the ABC‘s website had an increase of 250%.
Pages from different fields like sports and movies also had a significant increase in traffic. The site IMDb.com received over 350,000 “likes” since it joined the plugin. Publications in the area of the site Scribd, which helps writers to publish their materials, doubled the number of hits, and writers associated with the site gained further followers.
Also according to the Mashable Facebook to guarantee those numbers that publishers will continue testing their applications in order to increase traffic and hits to their websites.
