The search for suspected terrorists and terror plotters has landed the United States authorities in their own backyard of North Carolina, where a three members of a family along with four other individuals have reportedly been arrested and charged with plotting extremely violent jihadi operations abroad. These men have also been charged military-style training at home at their own residence.
The leader of this outfit is known to be Daniel Patrick Boyd, a 39 years old, native of Raleigh, North Carolina, used to live in a lakeside house and lived an average life, with a legitimate business. However, according to federal agencies, Mr. Boyd, went for training in terrorist caps based in Pakistan and Afghanistan about 20 years ago and spent three years of his as a combatant for the Mujahideen, against the Soviet Union invasion.
The charges state that Daniel Boyd and his associates did travel to Israel to wage a jihad against the Israel, though the authorities haven’t yet released any specific plans or dedicated targets that the defendants planned to attack.
According to George E.B Holding (U.S Attorney),
“These charges hammer home the point that terrorists and their supporters are not confined to the remote regions of some far away land but can grow and fester right here at home. These people had broken away because their local mosque did not follow their vision of being a good Muslim. This is not an indictment of the entire Muslim community.”
