One of the premier location based services, FourSquare has now stepped into the travel industry, with the introduction of an all new travel guide, in collaboration with the Independent Film Channel (IFC). This travel guide, known as, ‘Always On, Slightly Off’ has been designed and developed to provide the users with valuable, real time travel information and tips and this feature has been inspired from the immense success of user review based travel assistance provided by various social networks, such as Facebook and Twitter.
The all new travel guide from Foursquare will provide the users with a chance to get user generated reviews in regards to their travel destinations, the recommending users would mostly be the active users of Foursqaure, as well as the fans of the IFC and all the users visiting the travel guide, will be issued a special badge, on their third consecutive visit. The process of selection of restaurant, bar and other attraction in the travel guide is a culmination of user input from of both Foursqaure and IFC, out of which, both the services chose the best 100 locations and cataloged them into the travel guide.
The all new travel guide at Foursquare could prove to be a very important tool in the terms of the growth of travel trends via social networking and location based services.
