Frankfurt 2009: Twizy ZE (Zero Emissions) Concept by Renault

Talk about snazzy cars and you surely cannot miss the Twizy ZE (Zero Emissions) electric concept that is enjoying a lot of attention at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show. It’s a tad bigger than a scooter but gives an equal performance to a 125cc runaround with a top speed of 47mph. It looks so much like a bike per se but differs so much by its features. Its 15kW/20bhp electric motor can deliver 52lbft of torque. The length of the car is just 2.3m and the width is 1.13m. Hence, it will be a lot easier to escape heavy traffics.

The body structure is strong enough to protect from bad weather. There are safety devices fitted inside the car. It has a driver’s airbag, two side airbags, and four-point harness for the driver and a three point seatbelt for the passenger. A child can also occupy the rear seat, which is fastened to the roof.

It can load 57 liters of fuel. The car weighs 429kg including the batteries, which can be fully recharged within three and a half hours. It can race up to 60 miles. As of now, Twizy is only a forecast of a real production car. However, Renault will launch four electric vehicles starting 2011.
