Freerunner Launches New Free Public Wi-Fi Network in UK

Freerunner has managed to make public Wi-Fi network even in digitally remote areas financially, commercially and technologically viable in UK. It recently launched a new Wi Fi network with the aim to make broadband accessible even from ‘digitally remote’ suburbs of UK.

In fact Freerunner proposes to install free to use access points at various public and commercial venues. The service will be free for ‘community-oriented venues’ like libraries, transport hubs, schools and community centres. But commercial venues such as pubs, coffee shops, restaurants etc will have to bear the service charges.

Wi-Fi technology is a dream come true for everyone who is constantly on the move and need to be connected to the internet. But there have been several hiccups in making it viable in all respects. Especially Wi-Fi needs convenient access points, hot spots and good network for wider reach. Even if technologically viable, Wi Fi has been far more expensive proposition than usual broadband.

Freerunner has roped in funding from NorthStar Equity and the North East. It is all set to challenge other network services in UK such as The Cloud and BT by bringing down the cost and increasing the reach.
