As known to the fashion connoisseurs, she is one lady who has been showcasing her unsurpassable mastery through charismatic designs on her clothes.

Ritu Kumar said that, “I am honoured and proud to receive this award not only on my behalf but on behalf of the estimated 16 million craftsmen in India.”

The designer has over the past few years contributed significantly towards the Indian fashion industry by preserving the culture through her large scale work in textile crafts and maintaining the traditional techniques. She has thrived towards building a cultural bridge between French and International fashion while keeping the beauty of the ancient Indian designs intact. Despite the change in the contemporary fashion scenario today, Ritu Kumar has done significantly to keep the textile tradition in India alive.
