gm General Motors Bankruptcy Puts More Lawyers to Work

General Motors, the largest car maker of the United States is expected to file for a bankruptcy case by June 1 st, 2009. General Motors case as experts suggest would be the country’s biggest bankruptcy case, much bigger than the Lehman Brothers or Chrysler case. Surely, it will put a lot of lawyers to work.

It would be a case that will gather lots of attention in the legal history due to its complexity. The court officials have plans to even dedicate a separate computer server to the General Motor’s filing as it is a mega case. The law firms are loaded with work too. Weil Gotshal is one of the firms to represent the car maker and it comes with a heavy price for its work. The suppliers, vendors and dealers will have their own representatives in the court. This high powered case will use experts to help itself reorganize with the support of the federal government.  The bad assets will be liquidated. Brands like Chevrolet and Cadillac would be sold for a good price. Suppliers will be taken care of. The consumers too will not be affected as their warranties will be taken care of by the US government.
