George Romero is back with yet another zombie movie with his latest Survival of the Dead. The movie will be screened at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2009.
The movie depicts the story of two groups who are divided about what must be done in order to quell the situation caused by zombies who were once loved ones. A group believes in the annihilation of the zombies and another believes the undead must be protected until a cure can bring them back from the dead.
However, such grave decisions results in zombies killing and eating each other. With the swine flu taking considerable amount of attention, the good old zombie movies seem to be an extension of our fear of epidemics and pandemics, and what might happen if such viruses are not controlled at their basal levels.
While there is absolutely no relation between Romero’s Survival of the Dead and the present scenario of Swine Flu, one could draw parallels between the two situations because of the havoc that zombies and swine flu virus cause in fictitious and real environments. It would be interesting to observe how the movie would fare at the box offices, given the conditions.

zombies are cool but in return of the living dead they look weird.
