Getting one’s hands upon something other worldly seemed impossible until pieces of lunar rock were recently auctioned off but if you have your heart set firmly on the ground and the only thing other worldly for you are sexy automobiles and air planes then this news may just be your dream come true.

TMB Art Metal is a London based company that specialises in making sculptures and accessories from metal salvaged from actual automobiles, planes, and ships. The company’s latest objet d’art is a limited edition Spitfire Mk 1 sculpture made from the aluminium of a Rolls Royce Merlin Mk III engine that had powered ace racer Al Deere’s Supermarine Spitfire. The car may have met its end back in 1940 but it has been reincarnated in the guise of this shiny sculpture nearly 7 decades later to the day.

Only 24 pieces of the Spitfire Mk 1 would be made and the first dozen would come mounted on pistons that originally belonged to the V12 Merlin and the rest upon the original engine conrods. These pieces which will not come cheap so ask yourself if you deserve it!
