Guitarists and all music lovers would have heard of Les Paul at sometime in their life. The Gibson Les Paul was named after the designer, revolutionary guitarist Lester Polsfuss (whose stage name was Les Paul). One of Paul’s passions was tinkering around with materials in the hope of creating the ultimate perfection with a guitar and after decades of work, he may have achieved it.
The Gibson Les Paul Standard was designed using Paul’s ideas for a solid full body electric guitar and this 1952 model remains one of the most revered and used electric guitars over the past decades. Gibson has also manufactured a less expensive version and amateurs and professionals alike have appreciated both versions. The Les Paul guitar may have been made and distributed by Gibson but it wasn’t made exactly according to the specifications that Paul had put through.
Now, 4 months after Paul’s demise, his wish is finally coming true. Gibson has announced the launch of a limited edition Les Paul guitar made almost exactly as Paul had wished as a tribute to the legendary guitarist. The Custom Number Two Les Paul has been modified by Jimmy Page and would cost a stunning $5,581.
