Gigantor Statue in Kobe Reveals our Obsession with Mechanical Lifestyle

Japan has a very close relationship with Anime characters as the Anime itself originated in the land of rising sun. Anime, Manga and other such comic characters and comic strips have such a hold on the Japanese people that Anime and Japanese people are inseparable. With that in mind, here is a unique life sized statue of Gigantor, an Anime character.

The statue would be erected over the city of Kobe and it would look over the city like a sort of mechanical god. This giant life sized statue would cost the designers about $1.5 million. The statue is amazingly cool and as you can see, the statue is almost close to the original Gigantor character.

I would love to see this statue somewhere close or even visit Kobe to get a glimpse of the statue. The statue is a piece of art that depicts the modern society’s obsession over all things that are mechanical which also suggest that life is indeed becoming very mechanical.
