Gmail’s thirty million boxes were down

During a blackout of about three hours, an error message came up upon connecting to the Google mail service. Some sites suggest that one of the causes of the blackout could be the new feature ‘Choose your own colors’ which came into operation on February 19. This allows one to change the colors of the written page of his account. Google has not yet officially announced what may have been the origin of the blackout that affected companies and individuals worldwide.

Users widely expressed their frustration on Twitter, the micro-blogging platform. The problem also affected business solutions using Google Apps for their official mailboxes. However, access through POP3 and IMAP were maintained. People were still able to view or send emails from a mobile device such as iPhone and Blackberry, or an email such as Outlook.

The search engine had a glitch some time ago but it was for about 40 minutes only. Several weeks ago, a search engine problem that identified all sites of the world as harmful occurred. When a user typed a search on the homepage, all results were accompanied by the message: “This site may harm your computer.” While Google authorities may not yet be speaking about these unfortunate events and what may have caused them, people cannot help but notice that the Google image has already been hugely affected by these glitches.
