Here is an interesting toilet called “Go With the Flo”, which is “transgenerational toilet design concept” designed by a team of ASU College of Design students and faculty. Recently the team won the “Breaking the Rules Silver Award at the Northwest Design Invitational” for their five outstanding design criteria, which included ‘Appropriate aesthetics’, ‘design innovation’, ‘ecological responsibility’, ‘market’ and ‘user benefits’.
The unconventional toilet is an ergonomic, sustainable design concept for baby boomers, which functions like a squat toilet. Apparently, the toilet is like similar to doing yoga as it builds and strengthens abdominal and back muscles. It doesn’t require much water (only one-half gallon) to flush. It also reuses the water from hand washing. The electromagnetic ball valve that uses electromagnets is used to flush water from the tanks to the toilet.
Besides the toilet being free of mechanical parts, it is also fully self-sustaining and independent of electric power. The team is hoping that their design concept will alter the toilet archetype by the year 2030. We too hope that everybody adapts this design concept for their toilet.
