Five years ago, Google, the biggest name in the internet and search industry began its efforts to keep the users informed of every development and new launches via a dedicated blog from Google. Now as we welcome the new year 2010, it seems Google has achieved its aim of informing the world of its works with the help of various Google Blogs.

As Google increased its popularity amongst the users and made glorious name for itself in the business world, so did the number of readers and followers on Google blogs. For the year 2009, Google recorded an astounding 14,493,472 readers, amounting to a 21% increase from the year 2008 with readers from the U.S, U.K, India, Canada, Germany and France being the most prominent ones. One of the most prominent posts from Google was the announcement highly anticipated Google Chrome OS, that fetched 2,591,794 unique page views, followed closely by the post written for Google Wave that sent ripples across the Google user base, amounting to 639,225 page views.

The year 2009 witnessed the launch of a host of Google blogs relating to the various Google services that ranged from tools specifically designed to improve users’ websites to the exploration of the Google Apps and then of course the primary function of Google, search. Furthermore, the month of February last year saw Google being swept away in Twitter fever, as the company released a long list of twitter user names for about 75 Google entities with a combined following of more than 2 million followers along with a real time search deal with Twitter as well.
