Google has enlarged the size of the search box that appears on the homepage today. It’s a small change that you might hardly notice until you concentrate for a little longer while viewing the homepage. Nevertheless, this change is not all that insignificant as such. It will enable you to see whatever you type on the search box much more conspicuously than you could before. You do not have to strain your eyes at least while typing something on the search box.

“Although this is a very simple idea and an even simpler change, we’re excited about it — because it symbolizes our focus on search and because it makes our clean, minimalist homepage even easier and more fun to use,” quips Google’s vice president Marissa Mayer when asked about the change.
Considering that Google is used by millions of people every single day, this change no matter however trivial, is not insignificant nonetheless. Besides, whenever Google makes some changes, they always go over data in order to determine if the change is really worth it. Google also updates its search experience continuously via the algorithms and the way results are displayed.

I already hate it…I honestly spent 30 minutes trying to figure out what I had done to enlarge the typeface. Geez Google, you could have forewarned us or something.
I also hate the enlarged search box, besides making me feel like I’m getting old, I spent a long time trying to decide if my graphics card drivers were screwed up, or worse I’d gotten some kind of virus, I was just short of wiping my hard drive after checking my anti-virus program couldnt find anything……. THANKS FOR THE WARNING GOOGLE!!!
I too spent 2 days wondering what the hell was wrong, i was ready to go buy a new monitor or something. Now I have to scroll side to side to see everything. If people are complaining about the old ways not being able to see get some glasses.
