Google Inc. Being Termed As Politically Motivated By The Chinese Media

The continued row between Internet search behemoth, Google Inc. and one of the most media censored nation in the world, China, continues to grow with the Chinese media now accusing Google of being politically motivated. This accusation comes just days before, Google impending decision of a complete withdrawal from the Chinese markets. With the recent cyber attacks and the stringent censorship laws enforced by the Chinese government, Google had recently announced that, it in fact was planning to leave the Chinese market altogether and would cease all business activities with the country.

The Chinese media, which is greatly controlled by the government itself has stated that, Google has deliberately politicized itself by accusing the Chinese authorities of being the perpetrators of the cyber attacks carried out against Google and 30 other companies in the U.S. Furthermore, the state news agency, Xinhua has also expressed its discontentment over Google’s decision to withdraw from China, stating that, the search giant is trying to force the Chinese government in bending the legal regulations on the Internet.

The conflict between these two entities was further intensified after the U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton in a speech, criticized China for its stringent Internet censorship laws. This prompted the Chinese government to issue a warning to the United States, wherein the Communist regime warned to U.S of strained relations between the two countries.

According to China Radio International,

“Google’s actions show that the world’s biggest
search engine company has abandoned its business principles and instead
shows the world a face that is totally politicized. It is ridiculous
and arrogant for an American company to attempt to change China’s laws.
The country doesn’t need a politicized Google or Google’s politics.”
