Google Introduces New Features In Google News

One of the foremost online news services, Google News, has now been give an all new feature with which the users will be able to keep track of a new story that they feel is important. Google has released the bookmark topic groups feature in Google News, that lets the users put a star to a story and Google will keep updating the news event as developments happen. This new feature in Google News seems to be an attempt from the search giant to create an intricate bridge between newspaper story telling with the ever evolving online mechanisms.

Whenever users access Google News, they will see a blank star next to story and when the star is clicked, the news story is automatically bookmarked and moved to a new ‘Starred’ section in the left side column of the page. As soon any development happens in the bookmarked news piece throughout the day, Google News will immediately update the news story and highlight the event in bold, so as to immediately attract the attention of the users.

The whole point of this new feature is to further personalize Google News as per the user’s interests. However, the starring feature does not work for individual stories and can only be used in topic clusters, thereby making it a bit hard to keep a tab on a specific article or new piece that a user wishes to see updates to.
