Google is testing a minimalistic homepage with only two icons: a logo and the bar of searches. Something that can be considered as an irony because the Internet connections are more and more fast.
Kidding or not, the experience can be seen by a code, that was dispersed for the blogosphere on this last Thursday. In spite of some consider that a “plus resource” to the Google homepage, it is quite the opposite because it reduces the amount of information in the page. Instead of an add-on, an “add-off”.
As a spokesperson of the company said: we tested hundreds of things everyday in our homepage and nobody should face these tests as changes in the product in itself.
javascript:void (document.cookie = “PREF=ID=abac7a90f5a3784b:LD=en: NR =10:TM =1254990196:LM =1254990236:S=uB6F4jDnMP_DuxtT;path = /; domain=.google.with”);
It is enough to enter in Google.com (it doesn’t work with the versions of other countries, as you are “br” and “uk”, for instance), copy the lines above, then paste in the address bar of the navigator and update the page.
In some cases, the Minimalist screen of searches also makes to appear the icons of “I am feeling luck”. The lack of elements last few seconds and then turn to normal.
According to Twitter users, it is possible to notice that the resource doesn’t work in all of the versions of navigators. Test it and come to your own impressions.
Note: The code worked in tests with the last versions of Firefox and IE. It didn’t work, ironically, with Google Chrome.
