If you thought India was the land of computers and BPOs, there are millions of people that have not even heard of the word Internet. In fact, some people do not have access to any computers and Internet connection at all. Google has decided to step in and build awareness about Internet among the masses of India. Google has come up with the mobile Internet bus, which would help people of Tamil Nadu to experience Internet and perhaps even learn how to use it.
The project has been kick started in Tamil Nadu and the reason is Tamil Nadu is a southern state and people are quite not used to Internet and computers. Those who use Internet in Tamil Nadu use Google Tamil and the company feels this is the right place to begin the awareness about Internet.
The project shall dwell upon the four important themes of information, communication, entertainment, and education. Google India has stated that the mobile internet bus will cover 15 towns across the state for about 45 days. The findings and results of the project shall be used to understand the usage of internet in India and also help Indian State Governments to propagate the usage of computers and Internet.
