Google Nexus One: HTC Warns Users Not To Keep The Phone In Their Pockets

One of the most cherished smart phones that rocked the world this year, Google Nexus One, in its third month of circulation is now turning out to be a disappointment for its owners. However, unlike other smart phones, the Nexus isn’t marred by software concerns, but a hardware one, that is proving to be a costly affair to fix. As per reports, the Google Nexus One, that is manufactured by HTC has now developed a fault, wherein the display screen of the handset getting cracked, even when the phone is idle.

The issue of the cracked screen was brought to light by CNET UK and as per its reports, when Google referred it HTC’s technical support, the resolution provided was quite disheartening. According to HTC, the Nexus One could develop a cracked display if put into the pockets of tight jeans and handbags, due to the pressure exerted on the screen and also, foreign objects such as keys etc. could also become a factor in the fracturing of the display screen. Furthermore, HTC stated an estimated $270 repair cost for replacement of the screen, which is inclusive of parts, labor, shipping and VAT.

HTC states that, the broken display problem is quite common with handsets, but it quite unheard of a crack appearing on the screen of the phone, while the phone is sitting idle on a desk. According to HTC,

“Putting a phone in a tight pair of jeans and sitting down would usually cause the kind of damage. People sometimes forget that they don’t go in pockets.”
