One of the leading and a very popular social networking figures at Google, Kevin Marks, has resigned from Google Inc. Some of his most brilliant achievements include, Google’s Open Social, Social Graph API and Microformats. Over at Google, Kevin had he designation of Developer Advocate. For most of the developers outside Google, Kevin Marks represents the epitome of Social Networking technology.
Kevin began his career at Google with the Orkut project, that is now known as Google Profiles. This feature also plays a vital role in Google Maps and has also been incorporated in almost all Google services. Later, Kevin took up the role of Developers Advocate, in an effort to bridge the communication gap between external and internal developers. This role also enabled Kevin to explain the fundamentals and intricacies of OpenSocial and Social Web to Google and to the web community at large.
In his blog, Kevin says,
“I’ve spent most of my time working on building and promoting open web standards, both inside the company and out. I helped launch the Social Graph API, promoted OAuth and OpenID, helped converge Portable Contacts with OpenSocial, and explained how the Open Stack fits together.”

The resignation from Google isn’t the end of Kevin Mark’s career. He intends to carry on with his current profile at Open Web Foundation, the Open Rights Group among other organizations. Kevin will be pursuing the coding, writing and speaking on several social web issues with the via these projects.
