
Google is everywhere, whether it is your desktop, your communications or your web browser, the company has established itself as an indispensable asset for the online masses. Google Toolbar is one of the most downloaded and preferred of all tool bars, due to its effectiveness and high popularity. However, as per Ben Edelman of Harvard University, the Google Toolbar, version versions 6.3 and above have developed a in their functions, that unfortunately allows the toolbar to record a user’s web browsing trends, even if the toolbar is turned off or disabled.
This particular discrepancy has been noticed in Google Toolbar running on Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 and especially on the ones that have the enhanced features of the toolbar activated. Now, the problem with this particular glitch is that, it violates the user’s privacy as the toolbar is not designed to transmit user browsing information, when this add on is disabled in the Internet Explorer and as per the latest information the bug in the toolbar has no effect whatsoever on IE7, Firefox, Safari and Google Chrome.
Reacting fast before this bug incident takes the shape of a full blown conspiracy, Google has issued a statement, stating that, the bug is only affecting a small percentage of the tool bars in distribution and that, the company will be release an update for the same and fix the situation.
