Is there any aspect of our lives that the Internet search giant, Google Inc. won’t touch? I guess not! With its ever expanding list of services that range from Google Earth, Google Voice to the smart phone arena, with the Google Nexus One, Google Inc. is now targeting the spectrum of digital television. As per reports, the search giant in collaboration with one of the biggest names in satellite television programming, Dish Network is working on an all new TV search feature, that is rumored to be based on the much famed, Google Android operating system.

As per the program, users will be able search the web via their Android based set top boxes, (which are yet to materialize) and get both TV content and web videos. Even though the partnership and the technology is in its initial stage, this in fact further affirms the relationship between Google Inc. and Dish Network, that has blossomed since the beginning of the Google TV Ads program, where Google considers Dish as an indispensable ally.

This all new program will be beneficial for both the companies involved and the users as well. From the users’ perspective, this service will bring together the best of satellite television and online content to a single platform, the television, thereby making it might easy for the users to find anything from news, recopies, TV guides, online videos etc. without having to switch their medium of accessing the Internet. Google on the other hand, will also greatly benefit from such technology, as it would now be able to serve advertisements both online and on television sets, based on the viewers’ TV viewing habits.

    I actually had the chance to play with the Google TV and I highly recommend that DISH Network customers try out this product. It’s simple to use, easy to set up and I haven’t heard any complaints about it. I’m actually a DISH Network employee and from what I can tell, customers are really enjoying it!
