D.C metro Government Could Levy Additional Taxes On Washington D.C Residents For Public Transit

When it comes to public transit in the United States, the country metro rail system, that has been the life line of major metropolitan cities in the country such as, New York, Washington D.C, Boston etc. is something that the citizens can’t live without. In a recent survey conducted by the Washington Post in regards to the D.C metro transit system, yielded some surprising and quite encouraging results.

As per the poll, the Post asked the residents whether the existing transit system in their region was sufficient or did it require additional government funding for improved services? The results were quite astounding, most of the respondents stated that, the transit systems in DC, Alexandria, Montgomery, Prince George’s, Fairfax, and Loudon counties needed additional funding and that, the residents would not mind extra taxes if it improved the current generation transit systems.

Another question was related to the traffic congestion in these regions as the Post asked the residents as to whether the government should commit funds to the expansion and construction of new roadways or it should come up with additional options for public transport. Again, the majority of the respondents were in the favor of public transportation and the increase in the number of options in this field.
