Group Dynamics: Convergence + Resolution

group dynamics 2 Group Dynamics: Convergence + Resolution

Conflict resolution, a resultant and logical step to address the inescapable reality of conflict, is a must to move the team forward. Conflict resolution is a dynamic and pro-active endeavor that serves to find a commonality among the diversity in team membership. If there is no resolution to conflicts, the uniqueness of the individual cannot have a chance to be brought up to the level of group identity, a quality that marks a successful team. It is far better to confront and address conflicts rather than avoid them. A team that resorts to avoidance of conflict ends up passive and nil as a group of human beings.

The cohesiveness of an organization largely depends on the perceived fairness and justice that are inherent in an organization, embedded deeply when workers desire to be treated equally and fairly (Greenberg & Colquitt, 2005). From conflict resolutions come filtered work strategies, revised ground rules, renewed relationships among team members, and a team that is young, inspired, and reborn each time.

Also, conflict resolutions help sharpen team work, all the better for team projects and programs to be done. Membership diversity is ultimately beneficial to the group because it becomes a rich source of cultural material for the team.

Conflicts may arise out of this diversity, as there are differences in attitudes, values, behavior, and ideals, but the resolutions that come from the differences in gender, race, creed, and culture are the very essence of group dynamics. Group dynamics is the convergence of different experiences and backgrounds working towards a common end. Conflict resolution is the triumphant manifestation of the convergence of differences.
